ESSE Landscapes have completed a wide range of projects throughout East Sussex, particularly around Crowborough, Uckfield, Brighton and Eastbourne. Below we feature a very small selection of these.
Construction of a new garden on the slopes of the South Downs
Construction: ESSE Landscapes, Design: The Lovely Garden
Our client wished to completely re-design their garden in a small village that forms part of the South Downs National Park. The brief included a swimming pool, entertaining area, large terraces of planting and an extensive kitchen garden with greenhouse. The site presented a number of challenges, including a 14m elevation between front and rear boundaries, and limited access from a narrow lane.

Landscaping to the gardens of a listed property near Crowborough, East Sussex
Construction & engineering: ESSE Landscapes, Design: Sally Carmichael/ESSE Landscapes
Our brief was to create seating and entertaining areas, with planting, to the rear of this large listed property near Crowborough. In sympathy with the building, we used brick and York stone paving to create a number of linked, but separate, terraces.

Landscaping to the gardens of a property near Hartfield
Construction & engineering: ESSE Landscapes, Design: Sally Carmichael/ESSE Landscapes
This property sat on a steep incline so, to achieve useable level paved areas, we split the garden into a series of terraces. For the retaining walls we used a combination of brick and sandstone, with a sandstone paving for the terraces.
