Pergolas & Arbours

Pergolas, arbours and arches can be used to divide a garden into ‘rooms’, create intimate seating areas in semi-shade, or provide beautiful walkways from which to enjoy your planting.

For traditional pergolas, oak is the material of choice being long-lasting and toning to a beautiful silver grey colour over time. Construction should include pegged mortise and tenon joints. More contemporary structures can employ a wide variety of hardwoods or metals, such as stainless steel, to provide clean lines and an architectural feel.

A pergola or arbour can either be left to stand alone as a feature, or provide support for a wide range of climbing plants.
