ESSE Landscapes have completed a wide range of projects throughout West Sussex, particularly around East Grinstead, Horsham and Haywards Heath. Below we feature a very small selection of these.

A large courtyard water feature near Horsham, West Sussex

Construction & engineering: ESSE Landscapes, Design: Blooming Planters/ESSE Landscapes

We were invited to design and construct a water feature within the courtyard of a large manor house near Horsham, West Sussex.

The feature at night in ‘standard’ mode

The house and its associated outbuildings surround a central courtyard that provides a natural focal point. Arriving visitors drive through the courtyard and several rooms in the house have a view of this area. For many years the central feature had been little more than two pools of green water and our clients wished for something impressive that would create an immediate ‘wow factor’ for arriving visitors.

A large ‘Dark Planet’ sculpture by David Harber, consisting of polished black pebbles mounted on a stainless steel sphere, is mounted on a light granite pedestal. This sits centrally, above two stacked infinity pools constructed of large polished black granite blocks. A combination of foaming fountains, directional water jets and the continuous overflow of the pools provides sound and movement. Integral LED lighting, both under the water surface and within the globe, illuminate the feature at night. An electronic control panel (mounted remotely) controls the jets, which can be in standard or ‘party’ mode.

A garden makeover in West Sussex

ESSE Landscapes constructed new front and rear gardens for this detached property near Horsham. The paving is Marshall’s sawn sandstone (Caramel Cream) and the driveway uses Marshall’s Tegula block paving.

A contemporary garden near East Grinstead

Construction: ESSE Landscapes, Design: Blooming Planters

ESSE Landscapes have created this contemporary garden, with a mix of paving and hardwood decking.

The clients frequently entertained, so the brief was to provide ample seating areas and a large central barbecue with countertop and storage below. The planters were also clad in the sawn sandstone paving material, to provide clean lines to the finished look. Subtle lighting was incorporated throughout the design.

This extensive property has stunning views to the south. Our brief was to provide a large terrace for entertaining, several separate areas of interest around the garden and to enhance the extensive views.
